Hi, I'm Adrienne! I got my nose pierced when I was 30 years old. I'd always wanted a facial piercing; either nose or eyebrow and figured if I wanted it at 30 I'd always want one. A big group of moms went together to get ours done. There were about 8 of us that had our noses pierced that night.
Our piercer’s name was Bear, and he had a great reputation for doing wonderful piercings. I sat down in Bear's chair and was so excited to have my nose pierced, but also a little nervous.
I'm no newbie to piercings, I've had my tongue, belly button, cartilage, and multiple piercings on my ear lobes, but each piercing has been so different, you never know what to expect.
Bear got his supplies ready and began to draw his test spot. He dotted the spot with his marker, went to grab his mirror, and I said, " that was it!? That didn't hurt at all!!"
He replied, "I haven't pierced yet, that was just the marker."
When I stopped laughing from my ridiculousness, Bear pierced my left nostril. I loved it immediately. I started with a small diamond stud and it felt like it'd always been a part of me.
The nose ring came at a time where I had just had my second baby, was going through a bit of post-partum depression, and wasn't feeling my most beautiful self. It gave me a sense of myself back.
On days when I was wearing yoga pants and shirts covered in spit up, my nose ring reminded me of who I was.
Ten years later and I'm still wearing it everyday. I have a small loop now that I absolutely love!
